Wertheim’s thermodynamic perturbation theory with double-bond association and its application to colloid–linker mixtures

چکیده

We extend Wertheim’s thermodynamic perturbation theory to derive the association free energy of a multicomponent mixture for which double bonds can form between any two pairs molecules’ arbitrary number bonding sites. This generalization reduces in limiting cases prior theories that restrict at most one pair sites per molecule. apply new an associating colloidal particles (“colloids”) and flexible chain molecules (“linkers”). The linkers have functional end groups, each may bond several on colloids. Due their flexibility, significant fraction “loop” with both ends same colloid instead bridging different use show loops depends sensitively linker end-to-end distance relative bonding-site distance, suggests strategies mitigating loop formation otherwise hinder linker-mediated assembly.

Resummed thermodynamic perturbation theory for bond cooperativity in associating fluids.

We develop a resummed thermodynamic perturbation theory for bond cooperativity in associating fluids by extension of Wertheim's multi-density formalism. We specifically consider the case of an associating hard sphere with two association sites and both pairwise and triplet contributions to the energy, such that the first bond in an associated cluster receives an energy -ε((1)) and each subseque...

construction and validation of translation metacognitive strategy questionnaire and its application to translation quality

like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...

INVITED ARTICLE Thermodynamic perturbation theory of the phase behaviour of colloid/interacting polymer mixtures

Thermodynamic perturbation theory is used to calculate the free energies and resulting phase diagrams of binary systems of spherical colloidal particles and interacting polymer coils in a good solvent within an effective one-component representation of such mixtures, whereby the colloidal particles interact via a polymer-induced depletion potential. Monte Carlo simulations are used to test the ...

Thermodynamic Perturbation Theory of Simple Liquids

This chapter is an introduction to the thermodynamics of systems, based on the correlation function formalism, which has been established to determine the thermodynamic properties of simple liquids. The article begins with a preamble describing few general aspects of the liquid state, among others the connection between the phase diagram and the pair potential u(r), on one hand, and between the...
